I might have come to the realization that keep beating the same bush isn’t always the best way. Last week I wrote about how I believe that many of my physical problems arise from the fact that my hip flexor is incredibly tight, but this is not a new thing. I’ve spent the last couple of years trying to stretch it out, and to some extent it has worked, I have become more flexible, but if I only focus on this my returns will only be so much. Not that I’ll not try and get more flexible, because I still need it, but there are other aspects of Aikido in which I need to improve, that would probably yield great results.
My thought is that I still have trouble with the basics of movement, grounding is high, center is weak, and extension comes and goes. What I’ve focused on so far is the structure, but from this week I’ll focus on these cocepts.
another thought I had was to focus on the different movements. The kihon dosa has some of the basics of human movements. Some of these movements I have trouble with, if it’s because of limited range or motion or simply because of lack of practice I don’t know, but it’s an idea for future reports.
I see my biggest problem as my lack of grounding, so that is what I’ll be working on this week.
have a nice week.
