貴重な体験 (precious experience)

On February 14th and 15th Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira came to Mugenjuku (he is a famous MMA fighter. He has fought in the PRIDE Grand Prix and is a former world champion).

A TV crew filmed Mr. Nogueira learning Aikido with Payet Sensei at Marutamachi Dojo on 14th and at the Kyoto Butokuten on 15th.

This was for an American TV program called the 3rd Degree which will be broadcast around the world. The show will introduce Aikido and show us training.

Mr. Nogueira is a fantastic man. He had a kind smile and made the effort
to shake hands with all of us. It was an exciting experience.

I had a really good time.

２月14日と15日にかつてPRIDEの選手として日本でも有名なブラジリアン柔術家のノゲイラ氏が来日され、パイエ先生から合気道を学ぶノゲイラ氏の姿や道場のみなさんの練習風景の撮影が有りました。(14日は丸太町道場、15日は武徳殿での撮影でした。)

撮影はアメリカのテレビ番組の企画(タイトルは｢The 3rd Degree｣です。世界中での放映が予定されています)で合気道の紹介と稽古風景の撮影が有りました。

ノゲイラ氏はとても笑顔が素敵な方で、15日の練習の後には一人ひとりと握手してくださり、とても感激しました。

武徳殿で練習が出来たり、パイエ先生の演武が見られたり、ノゲイラ氏とお会いできたりととても素晴らしい体験が出来ました。

寒稽古。 (Kan-geiko)

こんにちは、最近は特に寒くなりましたね。皆さん体調管理には十分お気をつけ下さい。

研修生コースでは指導法での説明文を考えたり、自由技に後ろ両手持ちと短刀取りが増えたりと、今までにも増して忙しい日々が続いています。貴重な時間を十分に生かせるように体調管理にも注意しつつ残りの期間頑張っていきます。

来週二月一日より丸太町道場で恒例の寒稽古が始まります。寒い期間ですが、皆さんと一緒に練習できる事を楽しみにしています。

Hello. Recently it has been really cold. Please take care of your health in this cold weather.

Over the last few weeks, I have been thinking about Shidoho (teaching method) and learning Jiyu-waza (free style) techniques, including Ushiro-ryote-mochi (double hand grab from behind) and Tanto-dori (knife defense). I’m working harder now, harder than ever before.

Next week, starting on February 1st, Mugenjuku will hold Kan-geiko(an annual event of consecutive early morning training in the coldest time of the year) The Kenshusei will join this training. I look forward to hopefully training with some of you at that time and we can enjoy Aikido together.

子供クラス審査(Kids’ Test Day)

先日の土曜日に子供クラスの審査が丸太町道場で行われました。

子供クラスの審査では子供たちがそれぞれの級や段の審査科目に一生懸命取り組んでいました。

たくさんの大人や他の子供達の前で緊張し、萎縮してしまう場面もありましたが、全員無事合格でき、良かったです。

子供たちはこれから新しい級や段の技に取り組んでいきますが、より楽しんで合気道の技や精神を自分のものにしていって欲しいと思いました。

自分も研修生として残りの期間、よりたくさんの技や精神を自分のものにしていきたいと思います。押忍。

Kids’ Test Day

Last Saturday, kids’ test were held at Marutamachi Dojo.
All the kids tried their best. Some were nervous, as many adults and other kids were watching but fortunately all of the kids passed.
They will begin next year’s classes with a new grade. I hope that through this achievement, their techniques, movement and spirit will improve and they can enjoy Aikido more.

I also want to improve my techniques and spirit with the remaining time I have as a Kenshusei. Osu.

反復練習の重要性 (The importance of repetitive practice)

次回の第三審査まで間もなく三週間になろうとしています。
審査に向けて最近は身体の痛みや故障から目をそらさず、早く回復させるためにはどうすれば良いか考えながら、色々と試行錯誤しています。

研修生も第三に入ると今まで習った動きが再び出てくることも多くなり、基本動作や基本技が合気道の全ての技でとても重要な事がよくわかって来ました。

心や身体の状態が毎日違うなか、同じ基本動作と基本技をより良く、より多く反復練習出来るか、１日１日大切に練習に取り組みたいと思います。

It’s now about three weeks until the third semester test.

There has been a lot of trial and error recently in my thinking towards the test how to recover quickly without being distracted by the pain and breakdown of my body.

When we started the third semester, the basic movements that I larned often come up so I bad come to know that basic actions and basic skills are very important with all the techniques of Aikido.

I think that I will train carefully one day at a time as to practice the same basic actions and basic skills better and better. Even though my mind and body conditions different everyday, I will keep focus on the basics constant.

京都市平和祈念事業 Project of praying for peace in Kyoto

１１月３日に京都国際交流会館で行われたイベントに参加しました。
イベントではパイエ先生の演武、講演。更に、黒瀬由美子先生(同志社大学講師）の合気道と植芝盛平先生についての講演、亀山博一住職（臨済宗宝満寺住職）の仏教と合気道に関する講演がありました。

講演では植芝盛平先生の思想と合気道に影響を与えた人物、そのエピソードや、仏教と平和と合気道がどの様に繋がっているかなど、大変興味深いお話を聴かせていただきました。

最後にはパイエ先生の演武も見ることが出来、とても充実した１日でした。先生方、リムさん、みなさんありがとうございました。

On 3rd November, I went to a event at Kyoto international community house.

This event included Payet Sensei’s demonstration and lecture, Yumiko sensei’s lecture about Aikido and Ueshiba Morihei Sensei’s story, and Kameyama chief priest’s lecture about Aikido and Buddhism, Lim san also attended as an organizer.

Through the lectures I learned how Ueshiba sensei’s and Aikido ‘s thought were created, and what Buddhism, Aikido and Peace have in common.

At the end of the event, I saw Payet Sensei’s demonstration. It was an enjoyable experience. I want to say thank you to everyone involved.
